2014 Edition
The second
edition of the Chianti Star Festival that
will take place from 13 June – 20 July 2014 in the world-famous Chianti region
of Tuscany. Following the success of the first edition , the
2014 edition will be larger than last year as we have been offered the unique
opportunity to have two other incredible locations as well as the Palazzo Malaspina in San Donato in
Poggio: the beautiful Fattoria Montecchio very close to
San Donato, and the historic abbey at Badia
a Passignano. The prize-giving Ceremony will be held at the auditorium of the spectacular new Antinori wine cellar designed by Marco Casamonti at Bargino.
Once again
we will be collaborating with OpenLab, part
of the University of Florence, the Chianti
Observatory and the Municipality of Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.
The
relationship between art and science begins with the exhibition of contemporary
art (some of them will stimulate reflection and debate on art and science and
their relationship within the whole spectrum of society), while lectures,
demonstrations and concerts will enrich a calendar
of collateral events.
Chianti Star Festival 2013 Awards
We are delighted to be able to announce the
awards of the Chianti Star Festival. The jury members, headed by Professor
Casalbuoni, informed us they were extremely difficult choices to make as the
art exhibited at Palazzo Malaspina was all of such a high standard.
1st prize goes to Hervé
Bindefeld
2nd prize to Emmanuel De Brito
3rd prize ex aequo to Antonio
Díaz García and Hernan Guiraud
We want to thank all participating artists
for having made the Chianti Star Festival 2013 such an extraordinary success!
We thought long and hard about how to synthetically explain our idea of dissemination of scientific culture thanks to the evocative power of artistic images. In the end we chose to make use of a fabulous video by Jason Silva, hard to do better than him.

OpenLab
OpenLab, an educational organisation, part of the Communication Area of the University of Florence, Italy, (Science and Technology Centre), aims to spread scientific knowledge.
OpenLab aims to move out of the academic circles to inform the general public about complex theories in a comprehensible manner and about their recent research. At the same time, it tries to overcome the dichotomy between humanistic - literary culture and scientific knowledge.
